Proper Cashing & Selling


Always congratulate your players, whether you are cashing a ticket or selling them a ticket. Great customer service equals repeat sales. Players will return to your store after having a positive experience.



Winning Tickets
over $599

  • Scan the ticket on your terminal to validate it is a winning ticket.

  • A claim receipt will print stating: TICKET NOT CASHED! Present original ticket and this receipt for payment. Retailer Do Not Pay (see example below).

  • When a ticket is presented for cashing that is over your cashing limit of $599 be sure to return the original ticket to the customer. No claim will be paid without the original ticket.

  • Winning tickets up to and including $5,000 can be redeemed at any High-Tier Claim Center or CT Lottery Headquarters. Prizes over $5,000 or more must be claimed at CT Lottery Headquarters. Check How to Claim a Prize page for details.



The Right Way to Sell

BE MINDFUL DURING LOTTERY TRANSACTIONS:

  • NO PRE-PRINTING of draw tickets.

  • ALL TICKETS must be printed at TIME OF CONSUMER PURCHASE and payment.

  • PAYMENT for Lottery tickets is expected BEFORE tickets are given to consumer.

  • WHEN CASHING a ticket worth $100 OR MORE you must confirm AVAILABLE MONEY to pay the customer BEFORE completing the transaction.

  • PAY close ATTENTION to the POP UP BOX (see example below).
