A Tank Full of Gas and a $50,000 Winning Ticket, PleaseYesterday afternoon, Carmelo Morales, Jr. of East Hartford stopped to put gas in his car, and also purchased two CT Lottery scratch tickets.

"I was talking on the phone with a friend while scratching the [5X The Money 11th Edition] ticket,"  Carmelo told Lottery officials.  "When I saw I had a  number match with a $50,000 prize, I let out a yell.  My friend asked me what was wrong.  I told him I just won $50,000!"

"I went back inside the store and scanned it in the ticket checker, just to make sure.  Then I called my wife to tell her.  She didn't believe me.  You know, I told my wife that one day we'd be coming to Lottery Headquarters!"

Carmelo plans to use his unexpected windfall to pay bills, and go on a vacation with his wife.
