Derby Mom Claims Memorable $20,000 “New Year’s $1,000,000 Super Draw” PrizeMelissa Rivera of Derby has received a “New Year’s $1,000,000 Super Draw” ticket as a gift from her mother before, but unlike those other occasions, this year’s ticket for January 1st drawing contained a winning number - 147628 - for one of the game’s $20,000 second prizes.
“I went to the Lottery’s website yesterday and checked the Super Draw numbers from my phone. I thought I was going crazy,” Rivera told Lottery officials with a laugh. “I just couldn’t believe it, because the numbers matched. That’s not something that happens every day.”
In addition to Rivera’s winning ticket number, four others were also drawn on January 1, 2015 for the game’s $20,000 second-prize: 202899, 230488, 254386 and 284046. The single $1,000,000 top prize ticket number selected - 144452 - was sold in Hartford County. The lucky top prize ticket holder has not yet come forward to claim their prize.
Today, Rivera happily arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim her $20,000 Super Draw prize. “Winning has been an exciting, emotional roller coaster—definitely memorable,” Rivera said. “This prize will go towards fixing my car, and to help out my family.”
Rivera’s winning Super Draw ticket was purchased at Krauszers Food Store, located at 631 Milford Point Road, Milford.
