Bristol Chef Wins Sizzling $10,000 Prize
“I was feeling lucky,” said Gino Masi, 23, of Bristol, which prompted him to log on to the Lottery’s website to check some tickets he had purchased. He jokingly told his family, “Watch guys…I’m gonna win the lotto!” To Gino’s amazement, he discovered one of his “Lucky-4-Life” tickets contained a winning four number match in the May 5, 2011 drawing, worth a sizzling $10,000 prize. “I started freaking out,” said Gino.
The May 5, 2011 winning Lucky-4-Life numbers were 6 - 18 - 25 and 35. Gino’s “Quick Pick” ticket matched those four numbers, but not the Lucky Ball number, which was 37. A total of 7,523 winning Lucky-4-Life tickets were sold on that date.
Gino, an executive chef, was all smiles when he arrived at CT Lottery Headquarters to claim his check for $6,850 (prize value after taxes).
“I would love to take a trip somewhere,” Gino told Lottery officials, so obtaining a passport was one of the first items on Gino’s menu. Gino purchased his winning Lucky-4-Life ticket at Cumberland Farms at 191 Central Street in Bristol.
Since the Lucky-4-Life game began on March 29, 2009, fifteen other Bristol residents have won or shared a $10,000 prize playing Lucky-4-Life, including Rafael Alamo, Michael Boutin, Heidie Budny, Matthew Daigle, James Demaria, Miguel Gonzalez, Louise Ignacak, Diane Joy, Linda Labieniec, David Mancini, Barbara Morytko, Thomas Piotrowski, Donald Rodgriguez, Judith Tessman and Peter Zawilinski.
